Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson outlines a plan to save hundreds of millions of dollars in government spending.
The Democrat is the Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee's Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch.
Tomorrow the committee will vote on a new congressional budget that Nelson helped draft.
Nelson says since he became Chairman of the subcommittee he's reduced congressional spending by five percent, and the new budget will reduce spending an additional 5.2%.
Nelson adds, "My hope is that this will serve as a clear example of how Washington can get off its spending binge and get onto its much needed cutting diet."
The congressional budget funds the Congressional Police, Congressional Budget Office and the Library of Congress, among other things.
